summer part ii / august 27

august 27 is my birthday and it is also when summer part ii drops.

i've been calling it summer part ii because that's technically what it is, but i don't really think about it as just a part two. when you hear part ii it can sound like it's just a smaller follow-up to the last drop, and this really isn't that to me.

it's also kind of hard for me to call it a summer drop. it's the end of august, so it's still summer, but it's also basically going into fall. some of it feels summer, some of it feels fall, and honestly i don't really care that much about putting it into one season.

to me this is more just my drop for chunq. i don't really know a better way to say it than that. this one feels really personal to me and probably the most like me out of anything i've done for chunq so far.

a lot of the pieces use the hero logo and other chunq stuff people have already seen before. but that's not because i didn't want to come up with something new. i just actually really like those logos and those ideas. they're things i made for chunq that still feel right to me, and i wanted to keep using them.

i think i've gotten more comfortable with that too. not feeling like every drop has to completely change what chunq looks like or introduce a whole new thing. i want to make clothes that i actually like and would wear, and i want the stuff that feels like chunq to keep feeling like chunq.

so yeah, it's called summer part ii, but it's a bigger drop to me than that name probably makes it sound. i see it as a main chunq drop. and having it come out on my birthday makes it even more personal for me.
